WORK ON KW1961 ......

Work is almost on KW1961 with the final touches been made to the linning out in readiness for her 90th Birthday Party on July 2nd at the Worth Valley Railway's Ingrow Station.

new oak faced side panels cut to size, stained and fitted to the interior.

all drop window's repaired and re sash corded,

new safety glass windows fitted.

rear lights re fitted in top of corner panels.

floor repaired / replaced .

all polished wood re stained.

new lino cut to size (will be fitted early new year)

both interior wheel arch's  repaired and painted.

replacement wood capping made where needed.

 

As to the exterior of the vehicle the following has been done so far .......

front entrance porch  re built to original spec together with new steps and folding doors.

new window beading made to replace damaged stuff.

roof timbers repaired as needed.

 

body packed level and new body brackets made / repaired.

The engine has been un seized and the heads sent off to be repaired due to a frost crack.

new  head and exhaust gaskets made ready to fit.

new bottom radiator casting made (due to prior frost crack)

new  engine side plates made (due to frost crack)

new felt  hub seals made.

brakes stripped and sent away for a re line

 

the list goes on and on .........

The roof canvass has been removed, as can be seen the roof is in excellent condition.

 A new canvass roof will be fitted shortly.

We have already started on cleaning the chassis in readiness for it to be painted.
